Objectives

We can motivate why we included this course unit in the study program.
This course is part of the elective course units. These are intended to lead to the completion of the personal learning process. The course is included in the study program because the use of bioinformatics in genetic, molecular biological and biotechnological laboratory research has become increasingly important. The course is addressed as an elective course because these techniques are not used in all laboratories, This course needs an extensive background knowledge, therefore, it is offered at a later stage in the curriculum.

Contents

This course unit consists of the following parts:
Databases and tools for molecular analyses
Creation of a screencast

practical excercises (eg whole genome comparison, clustalW, research defined questions, PSR projects)

Order of enrolment

There are no prerequisites for this course.

Prerequisites

The agreements on sequentiality who apply for this course in the education programme are found in the teaching and examination regulations (FOER).

Final objectives

Domain-specific Learning Outcome F 12 Pharmaceutical and biological laboratory technology
Professional bachelor students of Pharmaceutical and Biological Laboratory Technology apply the appropriate methods and technologies of the medical-diagnostic field in a scientifically substantiated manner and in varying contexts…

Domain-specific Learning Outcome F12.1
… within biological research. In doing so, they apply bioinformatics applications as and when required
