Objectives
We can motivate why we included this course unit in the study program.
Evidence-based nursing is to be considered as an essential part of nursing education. It prepares students to their roles of healthcare professionals who deliver evidence-based patient care. This implies that students are able to choose the most fitting nursing interventions based upon a critical appraisal of the scientific literature and research findings.

Final objectives
This course unit supports the learning outcomes which are a translation of the level descriptors leading to a bachelor's degree in higher professional education from the Codex Higher Education.
1. On the basis of theoretical frameworks, international references and experience, develop a personal view of nursing and a constructively critical attitude.
2. Look for specialist and scientific literature in a focused and methodical way, assess the relevance and usefulness thereof, integrate new insights into their professional settings and development, participate in practical, scientific research.
3. Continuously reflect on their own nursing actions, analyse their learning needs and translate these autonomously into initiatives for more professionalism and balance in their work.

This course unit sustains, linked to its intrinsic specifity, the possibility to implement international guest speakers and/or visits in an international context.
To replace this course, a student may enroll in the Intensive Programme in the context of internationalization.
Evaluation
First examination period
Written exam (30% of the global evaluation)
- multiple choice questions with formula scoring
- open-end questions
Non-periodic evaluation (70% of the global evaluation)
- attendance of the workshops and exercise sessions is mandatory
- written assignment: paper
The number of questions of the written exam is in accordance with the examination time sheduled. It is clearly indicated on which part of the learning content the exam focuses.
Second examination period
Written exam (30% of the global evaluation)

Submitting preparation project proposal bachelor dissertation or paper with oral defence (70% of the global evaluation):
- the second examination period does not allow the valorisation of non-periodic evaluation. Therefore, an oral exam will determine whether the student has acquired the competencies envisaged by the workshops and exercise sessions.
