Objectives

We can motivate why we included this course unit in the study program.
A Dietitian should understand how health care systems provide community and population health services and the role and importance of the profession of Dietetics. A dietitian must recognise the importance of interpersonal communication with professionals and service users, of group work and interdisciplinary teamwork with health and social care professionals.
This course focuses on dietetic education programs, work of dietitians all over the world (including their expertise) and their recognition by a national authority, all of this within an international and intercultural dimension.

Contents

The course unit comprises the following parts:

Belgian Health care system and Interdisciplinary teamwork
International and intercultural dimension: national and international dietetic profession and/or education program in nutrition and dietetics

Final objectives

This course unit aims to reach the Learning Outcomes according to the Codex Hoger Onderwijs.

Learning outcome 4: Communication and teamwork
Programme-level learning outcome 7 Communicate orally as well as written in a customized, professional and clear way.
Programme-level learning outcome 9 Participate in intraprofessional and interprofessional teamwork in a constructive and active way and formulating input starting from the own professional expertise.
