Objectives

  • Use the productive and receptive language skills purposefully in function of professional presentations in English at the CEFR B1 level.
  • Use software for presentation autonomously, with a sense for initiative and creativity.
  • As an ambassador of the company, present a product or service in English.
  • Create a professional informative presentation based on the specific input of the manager, about the mission, vission and the strategic policy of the company or organisation.
  • Respond to autonomously to questions on the mission, vision and strategy as first representative of the manager.
  • Have insight in specific characteristics of diverse cultures, etnic groups and nationalities.
  • Pay attention to the specific needs of diverse cultures, etnic groups and nationalities and respond to them as the commercial communicator.
  • Recognize the international character of a professional situation and the oportunities and threats in international contacts, contracts, regulations and strategies.
  • Describe the relation between the organisational culture on the one hand and the international environment, cultures and habits on the other.

Contents

  • In function of professional presentations: language skills (reading, listening, speaking, writing, interaction in a business and professional context), with attention for grammar, vocabulary, style, spelling
    • Extra attention for: emphasising, structuring, describing graphs, comparison
  • Software for presentations: for example powerpoint, prezi; including multimedia (integrating moving images, stills and sound into presentations)
    • Build up the presentation regarding content.
    • Use (autonomously and with a sense for initiative and creativity) software efficiently while giving presentions
  • Basic principles of communication: language register, presentation techniques, fear of speaking
    • Principles of professional business presentations, ambassador, corporate culture
  • Mission, vision, strategic plan, goals (translation of mission and vision)
  • Interculturalism (intercultural communication styles and management styles), diversity in general, respect, cultures, etnic groups and nationalities, values
  • International ethical issues
    • Rules for international cooperation
  • International aspects of organisational culture

Final objectives

As an ambassador of the company or organization, and a connector in the company or organization, communicate in a service-oriented and creative manner in an intercultural, international and multidisciplinary context in Dutch, French, English and either German or Spanish (to be selected) with internal and external stakeholders with various profiles. (Dutch: CEFR level C2 / English: receptive skills CEFR level C1, productive skills level B2 / French: receptive skills CEFR level C1, productive skills level B2 / German or Spanish: CEFR level B1)
Based on the strategic policy and the principles of quality management, design and optimize communication processes and administrative processes
In an intercultural, international and multidisciplinary context, network and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders with various profiles, with an optimal alignment between one's own talents and those of others
